I may be forced to change my major

Life has an interesting way of coming at you, and changing your plans....

I might be forced to CHANGE MY MAJOR!

I was looking for evening classes that I could take since I work during the day now...

I was shocked to discover that UNCG DOES NOT OFFER any classes for my major at night and the classes that are online I have all ready taken! lol -)))

After making a few phone calls, I seemed to have found a good alternative!

I am not sure if this is the right thing to do, but it seems promising... However, I am going to pray about it as well as speak to Pastor Duke and or Pastor Stephen!

I would have to change my major to Liberal Studies!

Liberal Studies is part of the UNCG Division of Continual Learning, and only offers classes online. In other words, all of the classes are online.

The program is designed for people in my situation that can no longer attend class during the day, but want to compete their degree!

Since I am a junior with 83 credit hours, I might be eligible for this program...

I could be graduating from UNCG by December 2005 WITH A DEGREE!

I am really enjoying this new position with Food Lion!

Time goes by soooooo quick, it's un-believable...

I stay pretty darn busy though; there is always something to do!

I am spending most of my time serving as an Asst. Scan Analyst...

Changing prices, making new price tags, doing price integrity tests, etc etc....

I spent yesterday running the HBC truck, stocking the HBA isle, etc...

P.S. I also enjoy using whatz called a Telzon! It's an ordering/scanning gun with a bunch of keys on top with a small computer screen...

Awesome Technology!

Guess what yall?

I got to play with some really awesome technology!

There is an invisible fence in our parking lot for the shopping carts....

If you try to take the shopping cart passed a certain point, the wheels lock up! lol -))

Isn't that cool? I think its sooooo awesome!!! People steal shopping carts all the time...

P.S. There is also a remote that you can lock up the wheels on any shopping cart inside the office

on the front end. It's used to help try to stop shoplifters... lol

Food Lion: Upgraded to FULL TIME!

It's official; I accepted a full time position with Food Lion today!

I was offered a full time position at a new store after my formal interview today...

This has actually been in the works for a couple of weeks, but I didn't want to say anything just in case things didn't work out or something. I pretty much knew though that the job was going to be offered to me....... I guess I know the right people... he he

This full time position comes compete with benefits such as life, health insurances, etc...

However, I do plan to finish my degree!

I will return to UNCG in Jan going part time...

I only plan on taking like maybe one or two classes at a time...

This new position will mean yet another transfer. I look forward to settling down at one store for a while, I am getting a little sick of playing musical stores... lol

I will be assigned to the Food Lion on Coliseum BLVD here in Greensboro!

I will have three official titles, but they are pretty much rolled up into one full time job.

1) HBA Associate (Health & Beauty Aids) - This will be my primary focus & where I'll spend the most time. HBA takes care of tobacco products, baby formula/food as well as things like shampoo, toothpaste; female needs, etc etc are also covered under HBA.

2) Asst. Scan Analyst - I will asst. the full time Scan Analyst in changing prices for weekly sales, making sure all the prices are correct, etc... There are around 200 or so prices changes each week!

3) Asst. DSD Receiver - I will asst. the full time DSD Receiver in checking in vendors like Pepsi, Coke, Krispy Kreame, other beer venders, etc...

I will for the most part be working fixed shifts, but my schedule is as of yet still un-determined. It will most likely end up being 6am to 3pm or 7am to 4pm or something somewhat close to that, Monday-Friday...

All I have to wait for now is for my current store to let go of me, which hopefully will occur at the end of this week once we finish the schedule. Once I am officially "released" by my current store, I take over with this new position at this new store.

September 11th 2001

It's hard to believe that it's been three years since the attacks on America!

None of us should ever forget what we felt on that terrible day....

I remember where I was when I heard the news, do you?

I was driving home from class and I heard it on the radio. I was just at the intersection of High Point Road and Mackey St right there at Adams Farms in Greensboro!

I immediately started crying as emotion gripped me.... What happened though?

I much like the rest of America have forgotten in a way, and almost become num once again to the potential future attacks on America.

THAT'S WHY YOU SHOULD VOTE FOR BUSH!

Kerry would not be able to make up his mind if we were going to fight or not...

VOTE BUSH, VOTE FOR FREEDOM FROM TERROR!

My mother had to testify in court yesterday in a shoplifting case.

For those of you who do not know, my mother also works for Food Lion.

She is the Customer Service Manager for the Food Lion on Lawndale Dr. in Greensboro
This case has been going on for months, continuance after continuance!!!

The first court date, he was being held in the jail on another shoplifting charge and was un-able to come because of scheduling conflicts...

Greensboro Police arrested the man for attempting to steal over $500 in product from my mother's Food Lion. lol If it's over $500, it becomes a felony!

The ADA reduced the charges to misdemeanor hoping he would just lead guilty, but he didn't, so they had conduct a "trail".. It only lasted maybe half an hour... lol -(((

To make a long story short, the judge sentenced the man to 120 in the county jail!

A Night from Hell at Food Lion

Last night was a compete and total nightmare at work!

As a result of the huge storm and 4.4 in of rain last night, our computer system crashed!

We were un-able to take debit cards or EBT (food stamps) the entire night! lol

We were extremely luckily that our credit cards, checks, are on another system!!!

We also had some rather difficult customers, which caused even more delay for others...

For example, this one lady wanted to pay with a South Carolina EBT (food stamp) card, but it was broken in half and taped back together. She could not understand why her card would not work, so we explained several times to her that due to the storm, our EBT system was down and that we were sorry... lol

She stood there and fought with her mother in law for a good five minutes on who was going to write a check and who was going to pay for what.

In the end, I took a personal check from South Carolina, which is against my better judgment because those kinds of checks are normally no good.

I just wanted to get them out of there because the customers in line were really mad!!!
I took her check and went on about business...

Later that night, she calls back... She wants us to give her the check back and to charge her broken in half EBT card from South Carolina for her order. We can't do that; it will throw the check deposit and the safe out of sink for a week! lol -)))

Besides, her card was no good. Broken in half and expired five years ago...

P.S. Oh, did I mention we had a little problem with flooding? We had 4 or so inches of standing water on the roof of the store, which leaked into the backroom. Flooding the freezer, cooler, and the motor room!

Shoplifter CAUGHT!

I caught a shoplifter yesterday!

This lady came in with her son, maybe around 5 years old empty handed...

She picked up a receipt off the floor and went and got what was on the receipt....

She attempted to walk out the door with the stuff without paying for it...

I could tell this was not well thought out because the receipt was time stamped the day before, plus she did not have a bag for her things....

She was trying to walk out with a box of crackers and a coke!

I called for "SECURITY TO REGISTER 6!" and management came running!

To make a long story short, WE DID NOT CALL THE POLICE...

It wasn't really worth calling the police for what she was trying to steal, but we are a business not a charity, ya know? Crap like that is exactly why prices go up!

We ended up just taking her picture and told her that she was BAN from every returning!

If she ever comes back in, WE WILL CALL THE POLICE!

Last night a bird flew into my house! lol -))

I had just come home from work, and was trying to unlock the door when the bird just dive bombed my head! The bird landed on my head, then flew into the house!!!!!! lol

Teddysue and the cats immediately started after it, they thought they had some food! lol

My mother, father, and myself spent a long time chasing after the bird trying to get it out of the house before the animals made a dinner out of the poor bird. We were never able to capture it, and it found a good hiding spot and stayed put for the entire night.

This morning, my father went to let Teddysue outside and the bird saw day light and made a bee line for the outdoors! lol Teddysue of course chased it, but didn't get it... lol

Isn't that wild? You should have seen it going on last night, it was sooooooo funny!

I would prefer an armed security position, so that's what I will look for first....

Yall wish me luck, and much favor upon my resume and applications...

If you hear or see of any openings in Greensboro, NC let me know!!! Thanks....

I have LOST WEIGHT!

I have been continuing to work out at the YMCA!

Lifting weights, jogging on treadmills, etc

I have recently noticed that my work pants are TOO BIG... LOL

I HAVE LOST TWO INCHES ON MY WAIST LINE! PRAISE GOD….

I have to pull my belt really tight because otherwise, they will fall off. All I have done is watch how much I eat, and work out five days a week for an hour.

This is the dream of every person who is trying to lose weight... Having to go buy new work pants is a good problem to have!
